At B & H, quality assurance is about designing parts and components capable of doing their job over the long haul, and then confirming that all manufactured parts and components meet or exceed their specified standards, before they leave the building.
Quality assurance at B & H begins with precise component designs, drawings and material specifications developed by our Engineering Department. It continues with our manufacturing processes and in our Quality Assurance Laboratory, and it ultimately concludes at prior to shipment machine check-outs.
A key quality assurance resource at B & H is our temperature and humidity controlled Quality Assurance Laboratory. This dedicated laboratory is managed and staffed by degreed engineers and highly trained and experienced technicians with access to the latest QA technologies.
One of the advanced technologies used in our lab is a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) capable of measuring the dimensions of manufactured parts with a plus or minus accuracy of 2.7 microns. For non-engineers, this translates into 1 / 10,000th of an inch. This extreme measurement accuracy enables our technicians to confirm that precision components like shafts, bearings, cutter shells, cutter shear heads, and every other precision machine component meets or exceeds specified dimensional standards.
Other technologies used in our QA Laboratory include a coefficient of friction (COF) tester for testing both machine components and label materials and a 90x power microscope for examining vacuum drum pad finishes, gluewheel knurl patterns and glue patterns on labels.
