Wider Range of Adhesive Options
All hot melt adhesives currently used for roll-fed labeling will run on the B & H Glue Extrusion System 2.0. This includes hot melt and hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives from H.B. Fuller, Henkel, Bostik, Ward and National.
GES 2.0, however, is also capable of running hot melt or hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives with significantly higher viscosities than currently used adhesives. These higher viscosity adhesives will not run on glue wheel systems and as a result, they have never even been evaulated for roll-fed labeling. Until now.
Your initial reaction may be, so what?
Well, here is something to think about.
Traditional glue wheel systems are capable of running hot melt adhesives with viscosities up to approximately 1,200 cps. This means there are currently a very limited number of adhesive options for roll-fed labeling, and these options all have very similar bonding characteristics.
By dramatically opening the window for adhesive options, the GES 2.0 makes it possible to run adhesives with different bonding characteristics, adhesives capable of bonding to new or different label materials, adhesives better suited to surviving seasonal temperature and humidity swings, adhesives that offer effective bonding at lower laydown weights, adhesives that offer effective bonding with more narrow glue patterns, or even less expensive adhesives.
With the window of adhesive options now open, B & H will be working with both customers and adhesive suppliers to test and qualify a wider range of adhesives for roll-fed labeling.
